Back to school

It's that time of year again. Back to school - fall, and all the good things that come with it. Football season, Apple Fests and pumpkin spice. I'm looking forward to all the festivals in District 10 over the next few months.

But this post is about teachers. One of the most important assets of the state. I believe educating our kids is the most important mission we have in government. Not because only government can do it - but because we have developed systems over the years to make sure that everyone has access to education and the ability to succeed. We've developed programming with local input to ensure that kids are getting the information required to make them functioning adults. And we have trained teachers how to best educate our youth so they can put it all together.

Public education is important. It's the foundation of the American citizen. Someone who not only knows how to navigate an increasingly complex world, but also has the skills to develop mastery of tools and technology to improve it and ourselves. It is the only path to true freedom - being master of one's soul.

As we head back to class this fall, take a minute to thank a teacher. Like planting a tree, it's an action that benefits people you haven't even met. Thank you for all you do for America.
