There is a lot going on these days. Our lives have sped up, and now events happen so quickly that there's little time to re-adjust on the other side. Our nation, our state, is being transformed before our eyes.

Growth is the goal, because our system requires constant growth for progress to take place. But is that progress?

Capitalism doesn't care. It will continue to make profits, no matter the path. We'll turn all of our farms into data centers, and when water becomes scarce, we'll commoditize that, too. Already, healthcare and disaster recovery are major sectors of our economy. But is anything getter better?

At some point we need to come to grips with the idea that growth can't continue forever. We need to make a plan to deal with the end of growth, or at least something better. Our planet is showing signs of stress, and frankly, it may already be too late. But we can't give up.

We have the ability to change our direction. We can try something else. Let's have a conversation about what's worth keeping, and how we can organize society to live within our natural budget.

It requires all of us to participate. It requires all of us to get in the game. Vote like your lives depend on it - because, of course, they do.
