Another morbid shooting spree in a small town. I expect these to become more frequent as people become more desperate. It's a side-effect of collapse.
It's hard to argue that we're not in for a long down spell. People have pulled back, and the market is going to need some time to work off inventory and regroup. Though it's hard to see as we're living it, things are getting worse rapidly. Some who saw this coming have extolled the virtues of a fast crash because it leaves the bulk of infrastructure in working order. One things for sure - people are having to adapt and re-prioritize life. In some cases, they will break. Dmitri Orlov points out that middle-aged men took it the hardest in Russia. Older and less versatile men turned their anger and frustration on themselves, leading to depression and substance-abuse, plus violence or suicide.
But for others, it's an opportunity to start anew. It may seem hard, but that's because we wrongly believe that our previous standard is the norm. Throw out the book. We're starting over.
